Breeze Launches Inaugural Services to Sarasota
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Breeze Airways Takes Flight to Sarasota!
Islip, NY – November 21, 2024 – Long Island MacArthur Airport (ISP) announced the inaugural nonstop Breeze Airways flight to Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport (SRQ) Florida today.
“This new nonstop service to Sarasota arrives just in time for family holiday gatherings, and for Long Islanders to care for rental properties and second homes. It’s also a good opportunity for local residents to head south for some sunshine and relaxing vacation time. The Town Board and I are thrilled to welcome this additional air service to ISP – Long Island’s Hometown Airport,” Town of Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter said.
According to travel industry officials and outside sources, the Sarasota-Bradenton area is ready to welcome visitors as a travel destination, and tourism agencies are investing in getting the message out. While recovery is still in progress, if visitors comply with local guidance, they can enjoy a similar experience to what they’ve typically known as beaches, parks and boat ramps re-open, and snowbirds continue to travel south for warmth.
Breeze will fly the new Florida route nonstop two times weekly (Thursdays and Sundays) starting Thursday, November 21st through the carrier’s current schedule into May with fares as low as $59 each way. Sarasota adds to Breeze’s growing portfolio of flying from ISP, including Vero Beach (VRB) and Fort Myers (RSW) in Florida, plus Charleston, Norfolk, and Raleigh-Durham. Breeze also offers BreezeThru service (one-stop / no plane change) to New Orleans. BreezeThru flights to Jacksonville will be returning soon according to the air carrier’s Website, FlyBreeze.com.
“Many Long Islanders have friends, family, businesses, and second homes on the West Coast of Florida. These new Breeze Airways’ flights will make frequent travel so much more convenient, as Long Islanders fly between the areas to visit and care for family and bolster longer-term hurricane recovery efforts at homes and businesses,” Carpenter said. “These areas took a punch, but they’re still standing. This new Breeze service is more important than ever. We also know that many Sarasota residents will look forward to visiting Long Island for Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Christmas, and in the New Year,” she added.
Breeze Airways inaugural flight features the carrier’s new Airbus A220 aircraft, which offers the airline’s First-Class product called Breeze Ascent. As Breeze Airways builds towards the goal of an all A220 fleet by the end of 2024, the carrier also operates Embraer 190-195 aircraft on some routes. This fast-growing airline now flies affordably and comfortably to over 60 destinations across 30 states on more than 200 nonstop routes.

This has been a very busy summer and fall at Long Island MacArthur Airport, with many new additions, destinations and upgrades to the terminal.
“In 2024, we were selected one of the 10Best Small Airports in the U.S. for the fourth consecutive year, and we stretched and broadened our marketing and community outreach throughout Long Island and in our destination cities, as well,” said Aviation Commissioner Shelley LaRose-Arken. “With the support of this community, elected officials, business groups, and our loyal customers, we expect to bring more improvement projects and jobs to our region as the airport continues its leadership role as an economic generator,” she added.
