A few important tips will help your experience when going through the TSA Security Checkpoint. Please also review the important list of prohibited items for safety.
DECLUTTER YOUR CARRY-ON
TSA needs to get a clear image of your carry-on when it passes through the X-ray machine, which they can't do if it is overpacked. Please keep it to the necessities.
WEAR SLIP-ON SHOES
You will probably have to take your shoes off to get through the TSA Security Checkpoint, so wear slip-on shoes, if you can, to make it easy to remove and put them back on. This will help keep the line moving for you and others.
3-1-1 RULE
3.4-ounce or smaller containers of liquid or gel; 1 quart-size, clear, plastic, zip-top bag holding 3.4-ounce or smaller containers; 1 bag per traveler in the security bin
CONSOLIDATE BOTTLES
Place bottles in one bag and X-ray separately to speed screening. Be prepared. Each time TSA searches a carry-on it slows down the line. Practicing 3-1-1 will ensure a faster and easier checkpoint experience. If in doubt, put your liquids in checked luggage.
DECLARE LARGE LIQUIDS
Medications, baby formula and food, breast milk, and juice are allowed in reasonable quantities exceeding three ounces and are not required to be in the zip-top bag. Declare these items for inspection at the checkpoint.
ALLOW FOR PLENTY OF TIME
For less stressful travel, allow yourself plenty of time to get through the TSA Security Checkpoint. TSA adivses travelers to arrive at the airport at least 2 hours prior to departure.
